Silverpoint
Silverpoint
has been around for a long time. Perhaps the artists most well known
for it are Albrecht Durer and Leonardo da Vinci. Silverpoint
was used before artists had pencils. Residue from the various metals
used (silver, gold or copper) is actually left on the ground as the
artist draws. Over time, the silver oxidizes and the drawing ends up
with a lovely patina, turning a warm brown.
